Your map stays yours.
Fotospots is built so that we hold as little of your data as possible. The short version: your spots live on your device and in your personal iCloud, the app does not track you, and there are no accounts, no ads, and no data sales.
What the app stores
Your spots (photos, coordinates, timestamps, notes, and tags) are stored on your device and synced through your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. They sit in your private iCloud database, which we cannot read. Deleting the app or a spot deletes that data.
No tracking, no profiles
Fotospots does not track you across other apps or websites, builds no advertising profile, and sells no data. There are no user accounts: the app works with your device and your iCloud, nothing more.
Location and photos
The app reads a photo's embedded location and time only to place the spot you are keeping, and uses your device location only to show where you are on your own map. Both stay inside your spots; neither is sent to us.
Sharing a spot
When you hand a spot to someone, it goes through Apple's iCloud sharing to that one person you chose. A shared link on photospots.net opens the app on the recipient's device; the web page itself never reads or stores the spot.
Questions
If anything here is unclear, or you want to know exactly what the app can and cannot see, write to us. We answer plainly.
